Storm cuts power for more than 160,000 Northeast households
A powerful nor’easter has washed up what may be a 19th-century shipwreck on a Massachusetts beach, local media reported. The wreckage, discovered Sunday, is believed to be part of the “Warren Sawyer,” a vessel that ran aground near Nantucket in 1884, according to the Nantucket Current.
The latest find follows earlier discoveries of wooden fragments from the same ship in 2022 and 2023. The 2026 find marks the third documented appearance of the Warren Sawyer’s remains on a beach in four years.
Beyond the maritime discovery, the nor’easter brought heavy rainfall and dangerous coastal flooding to parts of the northeastern United States.
