Trump signed September 30 order renaming AI ‘super intelligence’

Elon Musk said on social media that he will rename his firm’s artificial intelligence platform from SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI. Some top technology leaders have already started using the new name, BBC News reported, including Musk.

The announcement follows US President Donald Trump’s September 30 executive order to rename AI as “super intelligence.” Trump signed the order after previously saying the word “artificial” made the technology sound “fake,” according to BBC News.

Trump said last week that he would set up a board to oversee AI safety after top technology executives signed what he described as a “morally binding” pact to regulate the technology.

Trump said he has created a new task force focused on artificial intelligence, the “Super Intelligence Force,” which will be led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton. The task force will work to ensure that the United States continues to lead in the technology’s development and will coordinate the government’s engagement with the public, Trump said on social media. Federal Trade Commission Chair Andrew Ferguson and Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering Emil Michael will also be part of the task force.
