Great Wolf Lodge says it is cooperating with police investigation
A 27-year-old Pennsylvania woman has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide after she allegedly killed her husband and their three-year-old son at a Great Wolf Lodge resort in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains, according to a criminal complaint reviewed by local outlets and reported by The Guardian. Pocono Township police said they responded to reports of a “distressed female” at the resort Tuesday. Metallica Rose Harrison, of Towanda, Pennsylvania, was arrested and taken to a local hospital with cuts on her left wrist and neck, according to the complaint.
Great Wolf Lodge said in a statement to The Guardian that it is cooperating fully with local law enforcement and characterized the case as an isolated family incident. The Monroe County district attorney’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Guardian.
According to the criminal complaint, Harrison allegedly told police she “wanted to be with her husband and son,” who were both found dead in the room with stab wounds to their chests. Her husband was identified as Charles Harrison in the complaint; her son was identified only by his initials. Harrison also allegedly told police: “Every day, I work so hard to be the best person, the best mother, the best wife. It wasn’t supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family. That’s what I envisioned since I was a child.”
Investigators recovered a butcher’s knife and a smaller knife from the premises, the complaint said.
The family had checked in to the resort on September 21 and were scheduled to check out Tuesday, according to the complaint.
“This case is an isolated domestic tragedy and there is no threat to the community,” Pocono Township police said in a statement.
In its statement to The Guardian, the resort said it was “deeply saddened and heartbroken by a tragic domestic incident that occurred yesterday in a guest room at our resort in the Pocono Mountains. It was an isolated family incident, and we’re cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those affected.”
The Guardian has reached out to the Monroe County district attorney’s office for additional comment.
