Execution by firing squad still scheduled Dec. 3 at Fort Hood

President Donald Trump said Thursday that the execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan will not be livestreamed, reversing an earlier Pentagon announcement.

In a Truth Social post on Thursday, Trump wrote that livestreaming the execution “might have been a strong deterrent for the World to witness how America deals with Terrorists and SCUM like Hasan but, many very good and well meaning people would rather not watch him die, through streaming, or through any other visual device.”

Trump wrote that the execution by firing squad will go ahead as scheduled but will not be livestreamed.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth previously announced the execution would be “public,” and the Pentagon later confirmed plans to livestream the death. The announcement drew criticism from members of Congress from both parties, as well as from Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.

Hasan was convicted of killing 13 people, including 12 service members, during a Nov. 5, 2009, attack at Fort Hood, Texas. The attack injured 32 others. His execution by firing squad is scheduled to take place Dec. 3 at Fort Hood.
