Adva Lavie, Cloobeck’s fiancée, was charged with eight felonies for alleged thefts
Billionaire Stephen Cloobeck, 64, was arrested in May on charges related to attempting to dissuade witnesses from testifying in a case against his fiancée, model and social media influencer Adva Lavie, also known as Mia Ventura.
Lavie was charged in November with eight felonies for allegedly stealing from men she met online, in some cases by burglary. United Press International reported the arrest and the charges in an account that also described the role of Cloobeck’s Beverly Hills, California, mansion in former Rep. Eric Swalwell’s campaign for California governor.
The mansion was used for events supporting Swalwell’s campaign. Cloobeck was a supporter of that campaign, and Swalwell stayed at the home on occasion while campaigning for governor.
Swalwell ended his campaign after being accused of rape and sexual assault by multiple women. Cloobeck withdrew his support for Swalwell after the allegations were made public.
The FBI searched the mansion on Tuesday. FBI spokesperson Lourdes Arocho said the bureau was executing a search warrant and that no arrests were planned.
Separately, Swalwell is the subject of criminal investigations by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department over the allegations of rape and sexual abuse against him.
Federal authorities seized electronic devices from Swalwell in August at the San Francisco airport. Devices were also taken from his home in Washington, D.C., as part of an investigation into the allegations against him.
UPI’s report set out two sets of allegations. The charges against Cloobeck and Lavie concern alleged thefts from men met online and an alleged attempt to dissuade witnesses from testifying. The allegations against Swalwell concern rape and sexual abuse.
