So the Justice Department — the full weight of the federal government — showed up at a children’s hospital and told the doctors to stop treating kids. And they called it protection.
Read that again. The Department of Justice, the same people who couldn’t find time to enforce antitrust against monopolies squeezing every family in this country dry, suddenly had the goddamn urgency to walk into a hospital and shut down medical care for minors. Not because the doctors asked them to. Not because families asked them to. Because a politician needed a culture-war headline.
Connecticut Children’s Medical Center agreed to end gender-affirming care for minors after DOJ enforcement. That is what happened. A children’s hospital was pressured by the federal government into withdrawing treatment from children who were already patients, already in the care of doctors, already being helped. The government told the doctors to stop. The government told the families their kids don’t get care anymore. And every single one of those officials who signed off on this will go home tonight to a house with full healthcare coverage.
They did not protect one child. They endangered every kid who was already in treatment, already stable, already trusting the people who were helping them — and they kicked the door shut in those families’ faces. That is not protection. That is cruelty wearing a press release.
You know who actually protects children? The parents who drive their kids to appointments. The doctors who spend years learning how to help. The nurses who hold a scared teenager’s hand. Not a federal agent with a deadline and a politician’s talking points.
They did not protect children. They used children. There is a goddamn difference, and every family who just got abandoned by their own government knows it.
You sent the DOJ to hurt kids and called it a shield. Take the press conference down and shove it.
