They keep telling us ‘America First’ means somebody finally looks out for us. Then this asshole pulls another tariff out of his hat and the guy with the dairy farm takes it in the neck again.
Trump says letting Canada cozy up to the European Union is ‘a hostile act’ and threatens to slap ‘very heavy tariffs’ on Europe if they do. Hostile act? The only hostile thing I see is a president who already banned Canadian dairy, alcohol, and motorcycles – and then modified some 50% tariffs to carve out cement and road salt while hammering boats and cheese. The guy shipping milk across the border just lost his goddamn shirt.
A trade deal nearly got done in August. Then it fell apart, and Trump signed an executive order to rename Lake Ontario ‘Lake America’ because apparently that’s what passes for foreign policy in this administration. He calls Canada a ‘terrible trade partner’ while the man in the barn watches his livelihood get ground up for a headline.
These tariffs don’t touch the people who write the checks. They hit the trucker, the farmer, the small-town factory. They hit the folks who were dumb enough to believe ‘America First’ meant somebody would finally remember them. Instead they get a renamed lake and a trade war with a neighbor and a continent.
Take your ‘hostile act’ theater and shove it up your tariff schedule, you sanctimonious fraud. The folks who paid for this show already got their invoice.
