They’re going to wave the GDP number at you like a winning lottery ticket. Fine — 3.2% since the end of 2024, fastest in the G7. Now read the goddamn receipt.

The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy did the damn arithmetic on who that growth actually reached. The middle fifth of US households is roughly $1,700 worse off in 2026 than they would have been. The poorest fifth is about $750 worse off. The richest 1% is roughly $12,560 better off — and ITEP says that’s primarily from Trump’s tax cuts.

Sit with that. The people in the middle got poorer. The people at the top got a fucking raise. And the man at the podium is telling you this is the hottest country anywhere in the world. That’s not a boom. That’s a transfer with a flag pin on it.

Jobs? Employers added 34,000 a month under Trump, against 122,000 a month in Biden’s last year. Manufacturing employment is slightly lower than the day he took office. The tariffs that were supposed to flood us with factories flooded us with higher prices instead — inflation is at 3.7%, up from the 3% he inherited, and diesel hit a record $6.52 a gallon.

The deficit is $2 trillion. Thirty-year mortgages are at 7.4%. So the top 1% gets twelve grand and a first-time buyer gets priced out of a house. That’s the deal.

They promised you the hottest economy. They delivered the hottest economy — for the donors who bought him. The rest of us got the bill. Eat shit.
