North Ridgeville resident Brian C. won a $100,001 Rolling Cash 5 prize in the June 10 drawing, using a set of numbers he has played for years in memory of his late cousin, he told Ohio Lottery officials.

Brian told officials that he and his cousin used to play Keno together using the numbers 11-22-28. After his cousin died, Brian adopted those numbers as the foundation for his Rolling Cash 5 tickets, adding 3 and 31 to represent special birthdays.

The winning ticket was purchased at VFW Post #9871 on Lear Nagle Road in North Ridgeville.

Brian said he dropped his phone and began screaming when he realized he had won, drawing a reaction from a coworker who joked that Brian must have seen a mouse.

MSI previously reported on a similar Ohio lottery story this month: an Ohio man retrieved a $100,000 winning lottery ticket from the trash. Read that story here.

Brian said the prize money will be used to pay off bills and to take a vacation, though he said he has not yet decided on a destination.
