Animal Law Enforcement Officer Wilson responded to a call about a kitten trapped in a storm drain in the Colorado Springs area on June 22. The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region said on social media that the kitten was hiding deep inside a pipe beneath the street.
“Officer Wilson got creative, using food and some careful maneuvering with his equipment to coax the kitten closer. The moment the tiny feline stepped into position, he safely secured the kitten and pulled him to safety,” the organization wrote.
After the rescue, staff evaluated the kitten’s condition. “Once out of the drain, it became clear this little survivor needed more help. The kitten is battling an upper respiratory infection and was unable to see, but is now receiving plenty of TLC from our veterinary team,” officials said.
The organization did not immediately provide an update on the kitten’s recovery timeline. The rescue occurred less than a month after the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region assisted in freeing a pig whose tusk had become caught in a fence near Pike’s Peak.
