Clive Davis, the music executive who helped launch the careers of some of the industry’s biggest stars, died in June, according to the Associated Press. Davis saw his influence grow as he got older, and his exclusive pre-Grammys gala, held the Saturday night before the annual awards show, remained an institution in the music industry, the AP reported.

Former U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Alan Greenspan also died in June, according to the AP. In his time at the Fed, Greenspan presided over a surge in stock prices and a 10-year economic boom that started in March 1991. However, his reputation began to suffer soon after he left the central bank in 2006. American housing prices tumbled, causing losses for banks that had repackaged mortgage loans into complex securities, and the growing financial crisis pushed the U.S. economy into the Great Recession of 2007-2009. Critics blamed the devastation on Greenspan’s easy money policies and his support for deregulated financial markets, the AP reported.

The AP article is part of a year-in-review series that documents notable deaths as they occur throughout 2026. The wire service’s earlier monthly installments listed other influential figures who died in previous months, including former FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III, martial arts star Chuck Norris, civil rights leader Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, CNN founder Ted Turner, and former NBA player Jason Collins.
