Andrabi told reporters at a news conference Thursday that Pakistan remained engaged in mediation efforts, despite the collapse of the ceasefire agreement it helped broker last month.
“Let me dispel the impression that Pakistan has done hands up, and this is not the case,” Andrabi said.
Speaking in a podcast interview with Joe Rogan that aired Wednesday, Vice President JD Vance said the Trump administration is “not going to bomb and bomb and bomb” and described its approach as using military force as “one of the many tools that we have to solve the problem.”
“You’ve got to actually be willing to talk and to try to figure out the problem,” Vance said, adding that “diplomacy is another tool.”
According to the Associated Press, hopes for a diplomatic solution have shown “stubborn signs of life” even as the fighting over the Strait of Hormuz has intensified. Andrabi did not announce any new talks, reiterating that the U.S. and Iran ultimately bear responsibility for reaching a settlement.
