Automated trading systems already acted on Trump’s posts in fractions of a second
The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social, is selling stock market traders superfast access to posts from President Donald Trump’s account for up to $100,000 a month. The new product, called Truth API, gives institutional customers a faster readout of the president’s posts than the general public receives, according to the Journal. At least five firms have signed up for the service, the newspaper reported.
The paid feed enters a market where Wall Street was already trading on Trump’s Truth Social posts. Many large investment firms have developed automated systems to monitor the platform and execute trades within fractions of a second, traders told the Journal. A review of trading data by the Journal found that some of those trades caused swings of more than 2% in nearly two dozen energy and industrial stocks.
Trump’s posts on Truth Social have moved stock prices, oil futures, and other financial instruments since he retook office in 2025, particularly through tariff and foreign policy announcements. The U.S. is currently surging forces and weaponry to the Middle East as Trump considers expanding the Iran war, with updates playing out on his Truth Social account, as the Journal noted.
The Truth API service marks a new revenue stream for Trump Media, which has struggled to generate income since going public in 2024. The company has been pivoting beyond social media into digital assets, finance, and plans tied to nuclear fusion.
