A divisive Democratic primary for Senate in Michigan takes place Tuesday, with the Wall Street Journal describing the contest as arguably the party’s most consequential so far this year. The Journal said the race will reveal whether a progressive and socialist groundswell has spread to America’s heartland.
Democrats are looking to define what they stand for with midterm elections to determine who controls Congress just three months away, according to the Journal.
Candidates aligned with the Democratic Socialists of America have notched important victories in New York and Colorado, the Journal reported, and are also on the ballot in next week’s elections in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
