Trump and first lady to take presidential limo to prerace

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump are scheduled to lead the prerace kickoff for Sunday’s Freedom 250 Grand Prix in downtown Washington, D.C., riding in the presidential limousine, according to U.S. Ambassador Monica Crowley, Trump’s liaison to the organizing group America250. Crowley described the couple’s prerace role during a Friday interview on Fox Business.

Trump and the first lady are also scheduled to watch the race as the open-wheel cars route through the city’s downtown, including a stretch along Pennsylvania Avenue not far from the White House. The IndyCar field is expected to pass Washington’s monuments at speeds approaching 200 mph.

Trump previewed the event earlier this month at the White House, saying “their beautiful cars are going to make freedom roar.” “This will be a freedom that’s roaring like never before,” Trump said.

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix is the latest in a year of Trump-organized events tied to America’s 250th birthday.
