Iran media threats against Trump family began after Khamenei assassination
The U.S. Secret Service said it is aware of an Iranian state media video that appears to threaten the life of Barron Trump, President Donald Trump’s youngest son, and that the agency investigates any threat perceived against the people it protects.
“The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” Secret Service spokesman Nate Herring said in a statement. “Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence.”
Herring did not describe the video or name the Iranian outlet that aired it. CNN previously reported that the Secret Service had knowledge of the Barron Trump threat.
The video follows a pattern of Iranian threats against Trump and his family. Since the U.S. assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at the start of the war in Iran that Trump launched alongside Israel, Iranian media have on multiple occasions circulated content threatening the president and family members.
The threat against the president’s son follows documented earlier attempts against the president and his team. MSI previously reported that intelligence agencies had warned top aides Iran was seeking to kill them and that an Iranian plot during a Turkey summit was one factor in Trump’s decision to switch to an older model of Air Force One for his departure from the country.
