Recovery took place near Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean
SpaceX said its recovery team battled challenging conditions to retrieve the floating vehicle near Christmas Island. The company acknowledged the operation in a post on X late in the week, sharing pictures from the effort.
“Congratulations to the entire SpaceX Recovery team for battling through challenging conditions to give our engineers access to a wealth of data to continue rapidly developing Starship,” SpaceX said.
The recovered vehicle is now being towed back to Starbase, a journey the company expects to take several months.
