Three injured officers hospitalized, expected to fully recover
A shooting at a downtown Minneapolis apartment building Wednesday evening left three people dead, including the suspect, and wounded five others by gunfire, according to police.
Two of the five wounded by gunfire were Minneapolis police officers, Sgt. Garrett Parten said at a Wednesday news conference. A sixth person, another officer, suffered other injuries, Parten said. All three officers were hospitalized but expected to make full recoveries, Interim Police Chief Bill Peterson said.
Investigators on Thursday were scouring the scene. Dozens of law enforcement officers were at the apartment building along with a mobile crime scene unit from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the state investigative agency.
Peterson said a 911 call about shots fired at the building came in just after 4:30 p.m. Officers were inside the building within two minutes and quickly found victims, he said.
