Driscoll’s resignation followed reported clashes with Hegseth
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Thursday named Adam Telle as the acting Army secretary, filling the post vacated by Dan Driscoll earlier this week. Telle currently serves as the assistant secretary of the Army for civil works.
In a Truth Social post announcing the appointment, Trump called Telle “a Great Patriot, who is respected by all.”
Driscoll had been the Army’s top civilian official before quitting this week. He gave no public explanation for his decision to step down.
His departure followed widely reported clashes with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who serves as Trump’s Pentagon chief. Some of Driscoll’s allies inside the Army were ousted earlier this year by Hegseth.
The acting appointment leaves the Army with a temporary civilian leader at its helm.
