Helicopter had been covering deadly bus crash when it went down
During NBC4’s live broadcast, anchor Colleen Williams confirmed on air that the helicopter that crashed in suburban Los Angeles was the station’s own aircraft, according to the BBC.
“We knew we’d lost contact with our people out there, and we’ve just received confirmation,” Williams said during the broadcast. The BBC described NBC4’s live coverage as emotional.
Three people died in the helicopter crash and two others were taken to hospital, authorities said. The helicopter had been covering a separate deadly bus crash in the area when it went down.
The National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation into the incident.
