BBC’s Bernd Debusmann documents ceremony from Joint Base Andrews
President Donald Trump welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday with a red carpet and a military flyover, beginning a three-day US visit that the BBC described as historic.
During the welcome, two B-1 bombers flew overhead to celebrate Xi’s arrival, the BBC reported. The supersonic aircraft are a key part of the US’s combat arsenal and produce a notoriously loud roar when they pass by.
The BBC’s Bernd Debusmann, who was at the base, unpacked the pomp and pageantry of Xi’s welcome to America.
