Both governments to start bilateral AI dialogue by November
The United States and China said they had agreed to lower tariffs on $30 billion of less sensitive trade in either direction, a tangible outcome from Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s recently concluded summit meeting in Washington with President Trump. The Wall Street Journal reported the announcement, citing statements from both governments.
Beyond the tariff changes, both governments announced a separate commitment to launch a bilateral artificial-intelligence dialogue that would begin by November. Trump and Xi also confirmed plans to meet twice more before the end of 2026, at multilateral gatherings in Shenzhen, China, and Miami.
