Mamdani plans to ask Trump to halt ICE in New York City

A federal immigration officer shot and injured a person on Thursday afternoon in New York City’s Marble Hill neighborhood, near the Bronx, according to Mayor Zohran Mamdani. The New York Police Department said the shooting occurred around 4 p.m.

The person who was shot remained conscious and had been taken to a hospital, Mamdani said in a social-media post. “Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds,” Mamdani wrote. “We believe the child was physically unharmed.”

The NYPD, in its own statement, said it was not involved in the incident and was not at the scene at the time of the shooting. A police spokesman referred questions to the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees Immigration and Customs Enforcement. DHS did not respond to a request for comment.

Mamdani said he planned to speak with President Trump and ask that he end all ICE enforcement actions in the city.
