Miller, considered an architect of Trump’s immigration policies, takes over Monday

President Trump’s replacement of White House chief of staff Susie Wiles with Stephen Miller comes after Republicans were swept out of power during this week’s midterm elections, according to NPR. Trump announced the change on social media Friday and said Miller will take over the post on Monday.

Wiles worked with the Trump 2020 campaign in Florida and has served as chief of staff in this White House from day one, NPR reported. She was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, and it was announced this fall that she was cancer free.

Miller currently serves as deputy chief of staff in the White House. He has been a fixture in Trump’s circles since 2016 and is considered an architect of some of Trump’s core policies, including immigration.

Trump’s post said the transition takes effect Monday, leaving Wiles in the post through the weekend.

NPR’s report on the change, by Danielle Kurtzleben, did not include statements from Wiles or Miller about the move.
