Third nominee. That’s the headline they hope you skip.
Trump’s first pick for CDC director didn’t have the votes. The second — Susan Monarez — got confirmed, lasted less than a month, and got fired by RFK Jr. Now they’re on number three, and the agency she’d walk into is a goddamn crime scene.
The emails tell the whole story. Kennedy’s own chief of staff sent the sitting CDC director an email demanding “political review” of major policy decisions. Not scientific review. Political review of science. He signed it “Make America Great!” like gutting your kid’s disease protection was a fucking campaign rally.
Thousands of staff gone. The scientists who tracked outbreaks and reviewed vaccines — pushed out or scared into silence. While they sort out nominee number three, the day-to-day is run by a former Walmart executive. I shit you not. The agency standing between your family and the next pandemic is being managed by retail logistics.
And the nominee to oversee vaccines against pandemics? Sean Kaufman — a guy who’s testified defending people who refused COVID vaccines and questioned the safety of universal childhood shots. He’d be in charge of the goddamn countermeasures.
They didn’t protect American families. They took a sledgehammer to the one agency that does and called it reform. Kennedy fired the director, installed political commissars over the scientists, and handed the keys to people whose main qualification is never questioning the boss.
A federal judge had to step in to stop Kennedy from messing with children’s vaccine policies. A judge. Because the Secretary of Health and Human Services was the threat to children’s health.
Family values, my ass. Every person who signed off on this deserves to be named and shamed from Friendship to Fulton County.
