I did everything they told us to do. Work the schedule, take the check, fill the tank, keep going.

Now the ‘temporary’ ceasefire is over and the receipt arrives at the pump.

Brent crude climbed to $91.60 a barrel. WTI hit $85.25. Iran is shifting to a ‘fully offensive’ military stance because the so-called peace deal was never meant to last — it was temporary because temporary means somebody kept getting paid. Washington damn well ruled out extending the thing they called a ceasefire. They were never going to extend it. That’s not a peace deal. That’s a fucking billing cycle for the war lobby.

The donor class got the contracts. The oil companies got the price spike. Working families got the gas pump and the heating bill.

Across the water the numbers look the same. UK wages grew 4.1% — down from 4.3%. Regular pay at 3.5%. Unemployment at 4.9%. The PAYE payroll data showed 13,000 more jobs gone. Energy bill cap about to climb because oil is up because the ceasefire ended because it was never going to last.

‘Forgotten man,’ my ass. They didn’t forget us. They remembered exactly where the wallet was. Every ‘temporary’ deal is a temporary extraction. The contractor gets paid during the war. The oil company gets the price during the war. The donor gets the contract during the war. The working family pays during the war. That’s the whole economy for people like us.

So take the flag pin off before you tell us the forgotten man is doing fine. Eat shit. You knew exactly what you were doing when you called it temporary.
