Here’s the deal. You and I paid 12.4% of every dollar we ever earned into Social Security. Every dollar. Up to $184,500 a year, you paid on every paycheck. Above that, you paid nothing. So a Walmart assistant manager and a billionaire were supposed to follow the same rule, but the rule was rigged from the start to let the rich off the hook.

That’s the cap. It’s been the cap for forty years. And for forty years, both parties had the votes to scrap it and didn’t.

Then they robbed the fund. The payroll taxes you paid in — your money — Congress borrowed to pay for other stuff, and they left IOUs in the trust fund. Your retirement became an IOU the government wrote to itself. Baby boomers worked and paid in. The rest of government spent it. Now those IOUs run out in 2032, and you, the people who paid in, get an automatic 22% benefit cut. I worked for that money. So did my mother. Twenty-two percent.

That’s not a tweak. That’s your grandma’s rent.

And whose fault is the early arrival? Trump’s 2025 tax law accelerated it. The same crowd that promised you zero reductions to Social Security payments cut the funding stream that kept it alive.

Now they want a bipartisan commission. Tim Kaine wants a board. Tom Cole wants expedited votes. Bernie Moreno and Elizabeth Warren want to lift the cap, which would close two-thirds of the hole. Mike Crapo says it’s a “new dynamic” and won’t have an opinion. Jim Justice says “we can’t let it hit the wall.”

Baby steps. They call it baby steps because the grown-up step is taxing the people who paid for their campaigns. Sixty votes needed. Sixty cowards on the take.

So here’s the promise: zero reductions to your benefits. Here’s the delivery: 22% off your benefits. Somebody got paid in the goddamn gap — every donor who ever lobbied to keep that cap.

Eat shit and scrap the fucking cap. You knew exactly what you were doing for forty years.
