The author is a retired real estate fund manager who now spends his time entertaining and assisting his son, and writing to express a lifetime of pent up ideas.
His son stands as his world, the center of all things. A young man with autism, this remarkable soul revealed to the author the man he was meant to become. As the son grew taller, the father grew deeper, shedding the selfishness and vanity that once gripped him. The son became the heart of his spiritual practice, the reason he loves, sees beyond himself.
Without this child, he would still be chasing hollow things. The son gave him purpose, showed him what it means to live for someone else. The care required isn’t a hardship or burden to bear—it’s a blessing, rare and extraordinary. The author shares a joy with his son that others rarely know, and for that, he owes his child everything. This young man inspires him, transforms him, and gives his life meaning.
