The woman told Ohio Lottery officials she was driving from Nashville to a family reunion when she stopped at the S&G gas station on Fremont Pike in Perrysburg to fill up her tank. At the checkout counter, a $10 Bingo Times 50 scratch-off ticket caught her eye, so she bought it and scratched it off immediately, revealing the $500,000 prize.
She said she managed to keep her big win a secret from her relatives throughout the reunion, but now intends to share some of her winnings with them and also hopes to take a vacation. The Ohio Lottery confirmed the prize from the scratch-off game, a top-prize win on the Bingo Times 50 ticket.
The S&G gas station will receive a bonus for selling the winning ticket, as is standard practice under Ohio Lottery rules for large scratch-off prizes. The woman, who asked not to be identified, has not yet publicly stated how she will collect the lump-sum or annuity option.
Lottery officials said the scratch-off had been on the market for several months and still had a remaining top prize available at the time of her purchase. The win comes as the Ohio Lottery continues to report strong sales of instant games, which account for a significant portion of lottery revenue in the state.
