Animal control officers in Ohio captured a white peahen Tuesday night after the bird spent several days flying around Cuyahoga County, according to Brooklyn & Parma Heights Animal Control.

The peahen, a female peacock, had escaped from its owner while en route to a new home in Florida, the agency said in a social media post.

“This beautiful white peacock was on her way to her new life in Florida when she got loose from her owner,” the post said. “After a few days flying around the community, she was safely captured tonight and returned to her very gracious owners.”

Animal control officers had been caught on camera attempting to capture the peafowl behind a Beverly Drive home in Parma Heights earlier Tuesday, but the bird managed to fly away at that time, according to the agency.

The agency thanked the community for assistance in the effort, writing, “Thank you to everyone who helped get her home safe.”
