Police chief declines to name officer as detective bureau investigates
Police in Upper Pottsgrove Township, Pennsylvania, responding to a 911 call about a possible break-in attempt, shot and killed a man outside a home early Sunday, according to the Montgomery County district attorney’s office.
The district attorney’s office said in a statement that police found Glenwood Pysher IV at the rear of the home and ultimately shot and killed him.
The shooting occurred around 12:30 a.m. Sunday in Upper Pottsgrove Township, a community about 45 miles (70 kilometers) northwest of Philadelphia, according to the district attorney’s office.
The Montgomery County Detective Bureau is investigating the shooting, the district attorney’s office said. Upper Pottsgrove Township Police Chief Al Werner declined to release any information about the incident, including the name of the officer who fired, until the investigation is complete, according to the statement.
The initial 911 caller reported a possible break-in attempt, the district attorney’s office said.
