Iran’s Guard accuses Kuwait, Bahrain of hosting forces that struck tankers
The Revolutionary Guard Navy issued the warning Tuesday in a statement carried by Iranian state television, telling crews of oil tankers near ports in Kuwait and Bahrain to abandon their vessels. The Guard said the ships “will be targeted” in retaliation for U.S. military strikes on Iranian oil tankers.
The statement directed tanker crews to leave whether their vessels were at anchor or docked. It accused Kuwait and Bahrain of hosting U.S. forces and said those countries had assisted in the attacks on Iranian tankers.
The U.S. strikes on multiple Iranian oil tankers came in response to more attempted missile attacks on a Navy warship, according to a U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive military operations.
