Three aboard 18-foot fishing vessel departed St. Lawrence Island September 4
A 15-year-old boy was rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard on September 10 after spending days on a capsized 18-foot fishing vessel in the Bering Sea, according to a Coast Guard statement. His older brother and cousin drowned when the boat overturned.
The three had last been seen departing St. Lawrence Island, Alaska, on September 4 in the small fishing vessel, the Coast Guard said. The group was expected to return early on Sunday but did not arrive as scheduled.
The vessel capsized days after the September 4 departure. The teen was recovered from the overturned boat on September 10, several days after the capsizing.
