Trump alleges outlets write fiction or lies without providing examples

President Donald Trump announced Friday on his Truth Social platform that he is “immediately” banning three news organizations — CNN, MSNOW and Politico — from the White House, according to BBC News.

In a lengthy post on Friday, Trump said the three outlets “constantly write or report fiction or lies” about his administration. The president did not provide specific examples to support the allegation.

The practical scope of the announcement remained unclear as of Friday. It was not immediately known whether employees of CNN, MSNOW and Politico would be physically prevented from entering the White House grounds.

BBC News, in a breaking news story by White House reporter Bernd Debusmann Jr, characterized the move as the latest in what it described as Trump’s “fraught relationship with American media outlets.” The broadcaster reported the announcement is likely to face legal challenges from the three outlets and from press freedom organizations.

BBC News said its article on the announcement was being updated as additional details became available.
