Netanyahu to address UN General Assembly, expected to attack Mamdani
US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in Washington on Wednesday for high-stakes talks expected to cover their competing economies, trade, artificial intelligence, and Taiwan, according to The Guardian’s US politics live blog.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, where he was expected to attack New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a vocal critic of the Israeli prime minister who has repeatedly described him as a war criminal.
The same live blog carried late-Wednesday news of a separate federal court order. US District Judge Tim Kelly issued a 14-day temporary restraining order restoring White House press passes to CNN, Politico, and MS Now, three outlets Trump had banned on September 18 over their coverage of his administration.
Kelly issued his order in a lawsuit the three news organizations filed contesting the ban, finding it “likely unconstitutional” and ordering the Trump administration to immediately return the outlets’ press passes. Such orders are typically designed to preserve the status quo pending a closer review of the case by the court.
