Guilfoyle calls ambassadorship ‘honor of a lifetime’ on X

President Trump told reporters he “didn’t like what he had read” about Kimberly Guilfoyle and hadn’t spoken with her, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday. His remarks came the same day the Journal reported that Guilfoyle had resigned as U.S. ambassador at the White House’s request, following earlier Journal reporting that she had solicited $100,000 from a Trump donor in the run-up to her confirmation hearing last year.

White House press secretary Katie Zacharia said the White House had asked for Guilfoyle’s resignation. Guilfoyle’s post on X came shortly after Zacharia’s announcement. In the post, Guilfoyle wrote that serving as ambassador “has been the honor of a lifetime” and pushed back on what she characterized as the recent allegations against her.

Trump’s comments to reporters followed Zacharia’s announcement and Guilfoyle’s social-media response. When asked about Guilfoyle, Trump told reporters he “didn’t like what he had read” about her and hadn’t spoken with her.
