  • Natalie Harp posted more than 150 pro-Trump messages on a since-disabled social media account on January 6, 2021, the day of the US Capitol attack, CNN reported Saturday.
  • The posts included "FIGHT FOR TRUMP!" repeated 12 times in a single message, "Today, DC is TRUMP COUNTRY!", "today we STOP THE STEAL!", and "We will never give up. We will never concede!"
  • Harp's embrace of Trump's false 2020 election-fraud claims preceded the Capitol attack; days after the election she wrote "WE LOVE YOU! WE LOVE YOU! WE LOVE YOU!", and on December 14, 2020, she posted "THIS IS A COUP."
  • The CNN report comes amid intensifying scrutiny of Harp, 35, who serves as Trump's special assistant and executive assistant on a $150,000 salary, after letters emerged in which she called the president her "Guardian and Protector in this Life."

White House rapid-response account attacks CNN reporter over Trump question

White House rapid-response account attacks CNN reporter over Trump question
  • The White House "rapid response" social media account posted a personal attack on CNN senior White House correspondent Kristen Holmes on Monday, calling her a "disgraceful, humiliating embarrassment to her alleged profession" after she asked President Donald Trump a question in the Oval Office.
  • A follow-up White House post referenced Holmes's children, writing that "someday" they "will come across your disgusting and inhumane question" and "will be sickened and embarrassed to have a parent be so callous and vindictive."
  • Trump dismissed Holmes as "fake news" during the same Oval Office exchange and repeatedly told her to be quiet after she asked him to respond to Senator Jon Ossoff's Sunday remarks.
  • CNN defended Holmes as "one of the most respected and accomplished journalists covering the White House," saying personal attacks on journalists for asking questions are "beneath the office and inconsistent with the principles of a free press."
