Brother and sister Jason Lowry and Marci Lowry, residents of Winnabow, North Carolina, purchased their $2 Lucky for Life ticket from the E-Z Way Grocery on North Howe Street in Southport, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.

The siblings told lottery officials they selected a series of numbers corresponding to family birthdays for the drawing. Their selections matched all five white balls in the Dec. 27 drawing, earning each of them the $25,000-a-year-for-life annuity.

“We are thrilled that the winning numbers represent special dates,” the siblings said in a statement provided by the lottery.

Jason Lowry said the prize money would go toward covering household costs. “This is really sweet,” he told lottery officials. The siblings said they plan to use the winnings to pay bills and to fund car and home repairs.
