Zelensky in New York for Trump meeting and UN General Assembly
The Wall Street Journal Editor in Chief Emma Tucker is conducting an interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York, the Journal reported on September 22, 2026. The interview is taking place during Zelensky’s visit to the United States, where he will meet President Trump and participate in the annual United Nations General Assembly.
The Journal published the video interview alongside an introduction credited to James T. Areddy, a China-focused correspondent. Areddy began reporting for the Journal and Dow Jones & Co. in the late 1980s and has written stories for many sections of the Journal and its affiliate publications, according to his biographical note. He spent approximately 18 years in Shanghai for the publication before 2020, reported from Hong Kong during most of the 1990s, and has also been based in New York City.
His China coverage has focused on trends in business, politics, security, society, and the environment, and the pressures that have arisen from the country’s massive economic transformation and its impact on the wider world. Areddy was a joint winner of the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting and the 2010 Overseas Press Club of America’s Malcolm Forbes Award, and has received awards from the Society of Publishers in Asia.
The interview takes place during the week of the annual United Nations General Assembly in New York. Zelensky is in the city to meet Trump during the same visit, the Journal reported.
