Guides span governor races, abortion and LGBTQ+ rights measures

The NPR Network published a state-by-state directory of voter guides and local election resources on Oct. 30, with the 2026 midterms days away. The compilation directs readers to guides from NPR member stations across the states the directory lists, with resources covering races from statewide contests down to local offices.

Beyond key Senate and House races, the network said it is following governor races and ballot measures on abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, billionaire taxes and more. NPR has published a look at the 36 races for governor this year and a list of the House races to watch in the Nov. 3 election.

NPR said its member stations are gathering information for voters — from voter guides down to local races — offering guides, resources and news reporting from communities across the country to help voters be informed for the midterm election. The directory lists resources state by state. Beyond statewide guides, the directory includes local reporting from individual communities. KJZZ covers Maricopa County in Arizona; LAist’s Voter Game Plan covers Orange County in California; Denverite provides Denver local news, while KRCC and CPR offer a Southern Colorado voter guide; and WHYY’s Delaware voter guide also appears under local reporting. In Florida, WUSF published a Tampa area voter guide, WUFT a North Central Florida early voting guide, WLRN a South Florida Amendments Guide, “South Florida: How, where to vote,” and South Florida Election Coverage, and Central Florida Public Media a Central Florida Voter Guide. In Ohio and Kentucky, WVXU offers a Spanish-language portal explaining how to vote, plus a Northern Kentucky District 4 guide. WRKF published a Baton Rouge election guide and WWNO a New Orleans election guide. WDET published a Southeast Michigan voter guide, and MPR News built a “Build Your Ballot” tool for Minnesota voters. Nebraska Public Media offers Campaign Connection 2026. WPSU covers central and northern Pennsylvania election news. WUOT published an East Tennessee Voter Guide. KERA covers North Texas elections news, and KUT offers Austin-area voter guides and election stories. Vermont Public has a Vermont election 2026 hub. KNKX published a key races guide, and WUWM published a Southeastern Wisconsin Voter Guide.

Several stations published guides aimed at specific races and ballot questions. KCUR produced a Kansas judge vote guide, and St. Louis Public Radio published a guide to Missouri judges on the ballot, a “What to know about the 2026 election in Missouri” item, and KCUR a Missouri judge guide for the Kansas City area. New Hampshire Public Radio published ballot-question explainers on a register of probate question and a school tax cap question, plus a 1st Congressional District guide. KUNM offers a “Compare the Candidates & Review Your Ballot” tool for the 2026 New Mexico elections. Michigan Public published guides to how attorney general candidates would approach the job and to the state’s Supreme Court candidates. The Virginia Elections Collaborative — VPM, WAMU, WHRO, WMRA and Radio IQ — assembled a comprehensive Virginia voter guide.

The directory also links to practical voting information. WITF explains how every voter in Pennsylvania can cast a mail ballot if they want, including how to vote “over the counter” by mail. NPR’s linked coverage includes a story on what is behind the early voting surge, which quotes an expert saying it is more than voter enthusiasm.

Related NPR reporting linked in the directory reaches into the campaign’s final days. One story looks at Georgia voters weighing the war in Iran, rising costs and Trump’s record ahead of the midterms. Another examines whether Ohio could decide control of the Senate, with its rural voters potentially deciding the winner. NPR also reports that in Arkansas, Democrats see an opening at the edge of the competitive midterms map, and that with days to go before the midterms, data shows the U.S. economy is doing well.
