Authorities had not immediately determined whether anyone else was injured
Florida authorities said Wednesday that officers had responded to an active threat at Citibank’s sprawling business complex in the Tampa area and that a suspect was dead.
Sheriff Chad Chronister posted on X that “We believe this is a targeted incident,” and added that “the suspect involved is deceased.”
Officers swarmed the campus Wednesday afternoon. TV video showed long lines of workers streaming out of the office buildings.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a post on X that it had “responded to an active threat and is currently clearing the building.”
The Citibank campus in suburban Tampa includes four three-story office buildings that house thousands of Citibank employees.
The initial account did not identify the suspect or provide additional details about the sequence of events. It was not immediately known whether anyone else was injured, leaving the scope of the incident unresolved.
