Carney addressed 100 global investors at Toronto summit
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney told attendees at a Toronto investment summit that US President Donald Trump once gifted him a gold key to the White House, recounting an exchange he said “sort of sums up” the Canada-US relationship.
Speaking to 100 global investors and sovereign wealth fund representatives gathered in Toronto for what BBC News described as a major investment summit, Carney said Trump told him he could bring the key and would be let into the building — but added: “maybe they’ll shoot you.”
Carney said the exchange “sort of sums up” the bilateral relationship, according to BBC News, which reported the prime minister’s remarks to the summit audience.
